Weekly topic – The art of pilates

What is Pilates?

Pilates is a wholebody exercise, emphasis on core work (the power house )not limited to using the core strength to develop functioning and sustainable movement throughout the body. It’s a low impact exercise and aligns your whole body structure and supports your joints.

Pilates is for everybody age,race and size and no need to worry about your fitness level as there are different styles for me at my hub there is fusion, move and contrology and they are open to beginners to advance.

Story of Pilates

Pilates was developed by Joseph Pilates from Mochengladbach, Germany his mum was a nutropath, and his dad was a gymnast. Joseph was a circus performer, boxer, and a self defense instructor. Through the war time been intended, he found physical fitness and started teaching it with other intenees when he worked in the hospital as orderly looking after patients that could not walk.

This is where the idea of springs been attached to the bed to help support patients limbs, which lead to the peice of equipment named as the cadliliac and much of his equipment is stilled used today just adapted.

Joesph had three principles


Breath, wholebody health, whole body and commitment with the whole body incompassing mind, body and spirit.

I practice reformer pilates twice a week. One class is contology, and the other is move.
